You Can be a cowgirl in BC!

You can be a cowgirl in BC!

Summer holidays for many of you is coming to an end. I know, it blows. I’m sure you have either had a blast this summer or had the worst summer of your life. This recession thing really stole a lot of the limelight and could have potentially had you strapped for cash for the last three to four months. The good news is that it’s over/ winding down and the effects are starting to ware off. Hopefully you have a bit of your hard earned money left to do some things before your holidays are over.

If you have been listening to us all summer like a good boy or girl you definitely will have some cash. Don’t come and tell me you have nothing to do, because here are some things (list of 50) to do in this beautiful country we call Canada (broken down by province). I will give you some favorites from British Columbia to Manitoba (including the territories) today. Tomorrow you will get Ontario to the Prairies. I would never have thought of doing some of these things and neither would you if it wasn’t for me. Aren’t you glad you know me now? And hey, if you see something fun in a nearby province, make a quick trip with some friends and have a blast.

Beach on a Budget

June 25th, 2009 by Thaddeus

Fact: fat kids love ice cream

Fact: kids love ice cream. Fat kids especially

Sun, girls, volleyball, soccer, waves, ice cream… Oh, I have to say, I love the beach. No, I don’t mean the movie called The Beach, with Leonadro DiCaprio if you even know what I’m talking about, but I mean the hot, fun and wet beach. I’ve always loved the beach; that’s why I’ve said the word beach so much thus far (I’ll try to stop now). Whether it’s just yourself, you and your partner, or even your whole family, there’s a few ways where you can save money without having to sacrifice any of the fun, and it all comes down to food.

Growing up I always had a sweet tooth, I still do, and part of the fun going to the beach on nice summer days was getting an ice cream. You’ve seen it happen many times, where kids come back having spent your five bucks on ice cream, half they have eaten and half they are wearing on their hands, face, and somehow behind their ears. This summer screw the recession, don’t deprive them or yourself of the miraculous invention of ice cream, just buy it beforehand and shove it in a cooler with some ice. You can get ice cream, donuts, candy, and all other sort of sweets for usually 75% cheaper from the grocery store and everyone can still indulge.

From someone with past experience, please, oh please pack fun lunches to go along with your junk food. If the lunch you pack is fun and delicious it will keep everyoneĀ  from wanting to buy burgers, fries, and anything else from the shops, as they will be totally satisfied and excited about the food you brought from home. I loved when I was a kid, going to the cooler and getting the most exciting, vibrant and tasteful ham sandwich on plain white bread. Not! It wouldn’t satisfy me at all but only make me start to lick my lips for grease… mmm… grease… So pack some buns, vegetables, crackers , some of the household favorites, and whatever you can find on the special section at the grocery store so that everyone can be happy with what you brought and not have to spend a week’s worth of groceries at the nearest snack bar.

Even though food is definitely the easiest way to save money at the beach, it’s important to point out that staying busy can keep your mind off spending money. Bring the volleyball, make a sand castle, see if you can bury mom or dad in the sand (maybe give dad some boobs), and have planned activities, especially if you have a family. This way you’re always busy keep you away from snack bars and rental places along the beach.

Canadian Geographic spoke about some great beaches in Canada. Check them out and plan your day!

I know I’ll be hitting up the beaches this summer with my buddies and a football, well prepared for a perfect execution of the ā€˜go long’ routine. Watch out ladies!

Just kidding, but seriously.
