In light of our departure, we thought we’d give you time to read/watch some of the posts that you may have missed. Although our work here is technically done, there is still much to benefit from the site. Recession or no recession, managing your finances and not spending money frivolously are important skills to have so use this blog as a resource for an economical self-transformation.
I’ve rounded up the troops to give you our personal faves from the blog. It’s your chance to play catch-up.
But first, a musical interlude:
Here’s what your lovely blogger pals think you should check out before we check out: (more…)
Sadly, all good things must come to an end and your favourite writer is logging in his last post. Romi is putting together a best of SYR for tomorrow, so today I’m gonna give you my best lessons from my (our) favourite posts and projects as you guys start getting through September. (more…)
A while back I dedicated one of my posts to books dedicated to managing your money, savings, blah blah blah. But then I thought to myself, wait a second, kids don’t read anymore! What am I thinking?
So now, I’ve decided to compile a list of movies that somehow include money in the theme of the film. Some are 100% about money, others are more so about realizing that life isn’t all about money and some are just about how shitty it is when you don’t have money. I’ve mixed the up list with comedies and dramas, a documentary and a musical. (more…)
Bag, pencils, ruler, calculator...You can only take two...make your choice.
Bonjour!
So you know school is back when you see those Staples commercials. You know what ones I’m talking about: “It’s the most wonderful time of the year!” And although they’re aimed at elementary and high school students, we college kids love getting ready for back to school too. We don’t need our parents anymore, we can go shop ourselves!
But here’s the catch, you’re a shopaholic and a compulsive one at that. You want that…and that…and that…and that circular cool techno looking thing that you really don’t need. Yes back to school shopping is essential but it’s easy to lose money so I’m going to give you my own do’s and don’ts and some great sites/blogs that offer the same advice.
As you all know, I’m an author. When I was 17, I started writing a book about the life of a teenager and continued writing until my first couple years in university. I honestly got to about 60 pages until I abandoned the endeavour I knew I would never complete. So I guess that doesn’t make me an author at all. (more…)
Want to save money? Don't buy new clothes and wear the same ones you wore when you were a kid!
Bonjour everyone!
Some time ago, I said I was going to give shout-outs to people at the end of my posts, but then I realized I don’t need people to make me happy. Just kidding! The real reason is because I simply tend to forget things from time to time; it’s one of my tragic flaws. So I’m gonna send some shout-outs before I start my post to my smokin’ hot girlfriend Shawna; happy 9 months babe! I’d also like to send a shout-out to my boy Marty who is moving to Sweden later next month, YEA BOI! And third, I’ll send a shout-out to my old roomie Jen who is moving back home to PEI for a little while. (more…)
I got several responses to my last post about the toilet paper wrap, including some replies online, which I’m not entirely surprised at. Any posts that include vivid details about bathroom activity and execution are bound to breed intrigue. Unfortunately, a week has passed and so far, no one has adopted the experiment. Check that; no one has reported doing the experiment and measuring the results, which doesn’t necessarily conclude that no one’s doing it. They may simply be too embarrassed. I know you’re out there! (more…)
So my whole two-week birthday festivities are over. It was pretty legitimate as the young folks say. It was topped off with a wonderful co-birthday party (once again, cheap and fun alternative to going out to a bar), my girlfriend taking me out to Jersey Boys (amazing show) and I’m going home to Nova Scotia in late August for two weeks. (more…)
Bonjour tout le monde! I just want to start off by saying that I had a really great weekend. I got to see my best friend in the whole world from Nova Scotia Friday night, went to a great birthday party Saturday night and I went to hands down the most elaborate and fancy wedding yesterday. With tired legs and a full stomach, I sit and write. (more…)
I’m ecstatic that the Lakers won the NBA Finals. The Magic will be back but this was Kobe and co.’s year and if there are any basketball fans out there, let’s talk. (more…)

Rath You have a decent blog here. I would encourage you to keep writing and posting as often as you are inspired to do so. In the long run, it will really pay off as more and more people will begin to visit, read and refer others. ProExtender

Theresa Waste less food by taking more trips to the grocery store, but buy less. Plan fresh meals ahead, buy what you need when you need it. Also, frequent local markets for great deals!
