I absolutely love music festivals. I would be hard pressed to come up with a better way to spend my weekend than enjoying a cornucopia of awesome bands.
There is something almost mythical about a killer festival. Just envisioning it brings a smile to my visage. Thousands of people rocking out, playing some hackeysack, throwing a frisbee, dancing wildly, or napping on a blanket with the smell of freshly ground oregano permeating the surrounding air.
So I present this question to you: Do you want to come to the Ontario Virgin Festival at Burl’s Creek Park Molson Amphitheatre (Thanks Chris)? The line-up includes Nine Inch Nails (on their last tour!), Ben Harper, Franz Ferdinand, the Pixies, Our Lady Peace, and many more killer musical acts. (more…)
I'd forgive him for wasting the water if he didn't look so smug about it.
Hey everyone, D.J. Demers here, back from my weeklong absence. I won’t go into detail as to where I was, but let me just throw a random fact out there: A secret agent could easily fly on several covert missions from Toronto to Vienna to Seoul to Cape Town, back to Vienna, and then home to Toronto in less than a week. Just something worth noting.
This past weekend, I stopped in at a friend’s house to say hello. In the hour that I was hanging out with this friend, she did a couple of things that made my jaw hang in disbelief. (more…)
Hello, my friends. I wish you a pleasant Monday morning. Some would argue that statement is an oxymoron, but I extend my wish regardless.
I will keep this short and sweet. I just wanted to inform you that you won’t be seeing much of me around these parts because I am taking the week off. I wanted to tell you right off the bat so that you don’t worry when you notice I haven’t posted for a couple of days. I’m a nice guy like that. You would worry, right? (more…)
If you watched my recent interview with the Veronicas, you probably noticed that I had two giant objects situated behind my ears. Those giant objects are in fact hearing aids.
Today I present to you a video detailing how I save money on my hearing aid expenses and still remain a cool guy in my day-to-day life. At least I think I’m cool. I am pretty sure those random people told me I was cool yesterday. In retrospect, they may have been calling me a tool. The point is, people talk to me.
When I did a post two weeks ago about finding clothes in your mother’s closet, I received a comment from Giovanna saying, “Try your own closet first, everybody.
Go through and find all of the old things that you hate, take a strong pair of scissors and some leather cord and go to town”.This gave me an excuse to go and talk with some girls about how they stay fashionable and cheap. (more…)
When the Veronicas landed in Toronto for their concert at Circa nightclub, they visited Eva’s Phoneix, part of Eva’s Initiatives, which helps at-risk and homeless youth. Yours truly and D.J. Demers were on hand to interview the Veronicas about their experience and also to find out if they prefer the ‘handlebar’ moustache to the Boogie Nights-inspired strip that D.J. has been sporting for as long as I’ve known him. I think D.J.’s charm alone made them converts to the Burt Reynolds, which is what I’m going to call it from now on. (more…)
Last week, I sent some emails back and forth with Bill Killorn. Bill works for an organization called Journalists for Human Rights. As we’ve mentioned in previous posts, volunteering is one of the most important things you can do during this recession - not just for the resume boost, but also to help your fellow citizens of planet earth. I asked Bill some questions about jhr, and here is what he had to say: (more…)
When I think of the recession, the first images that pop into my head are those of laid-off laborers exiting the auto plant, small businesses boarding up their doors, and other variations on the theme of the struggling middle class citizen. But there is one important group that I consistently neglect: rich people.
So today I pose the question, “How are rich people holding up in the recession?“ (more…)

Rath You have a decent blog here. I would encourage you to keep writing and posting as often as you are inspired to do so. In the long run, it will really pay off as more and more people will begin to visit, read and refer others. ProExtender

Theresa Waste less food by taking more trips to the grocery store, but buy less. Plan fresh meals ahead, buy what you need when you need it. Also, frequent local markets for great deals!
