Want to be just like me? Of course you do!
Do you wake up every morning saying, “Wow, the bloggers on screwyourecession.ca have the greatest job I have ever seen”, or, “I wish I had a blog to look forward to doing after work”?. I am pretty much asking if you want to become a blogger. Well if you do, or are curious about it, what the hell are you waiting for? Frugal Dad, one of my favorite bloggers actually gives some tips on how to make a quality blog and well heck, I read it and it helped me. It gives some help that is not found in an instructions manual. Check it out!
Forget keywords, meta tags and article marketing - The first tip is quite an interesting one, and possibly could be up for debate. He explains for the first 50 posts or so, just be yourself. Many people make the mistakes of focusing on traffic results straight away before they find their voice or their online character. I find that readers need to connect with you on a personal basis wit your thoughts and ideas and do not focus on the keywords or tags in your article right away.
Before you write your first article create a list of at least ten topics in your niche that you will cover over the next two weeks- If you can’t complete this, he says that you should consider broadening your blog’s ideas or even going another route. Ten things is a small number especially when it could be ten things to tick you off, make you happy, or make you laugh. If you are passionate about something then it should come even easier. I’ll admit I love doing this stuff, and so do all the other SYR Bloggers, that’s why it’s such a killer blog!
Be prepared to write about peripheral interests related to your blog’s main idea- For example, Frugal dad writes primarily on frugal living, however, he also writes some posts on careers, personal productivity, and debt reduction. Even those these aren’t all about frugality they relate to a bigger theme of personal finance. Our blog also speaks about things like Romi’s Things To Do, Two Guys Living Together, and volunteering.
Be prepared to throw in an article every three or four posts off the topic of your main subject- Even though it is nice to speak about different areas, make sure that you still have a focus on your main idea. If so, you may appear to be one of those “variety” bloggers, as he puts it, and readers might become confused or lost on what your blog is really about. People only care about what you ate for breakfast so much and here at SYR I just love to interact and chill with you guys, my homeboys and homegirls. You must like it too, you’re still reading aren’t you.
Check out the aritcle, and if you guys have a blog, tell me about it and what you guys to keep readers intact. If your thinking of starting a blog, I advise you to, because it’s super fun but also remember that the original Rocky movies had the training scenes taken from that of an everyday blogger.
Just kidding, but seriously.
