Waste your waste!

Waste your waste!

I got several responses to my last post about the toilet paper wrap, including some replies online, which I’m not entirely surprised at. Any posts that include vivid details about bathroom activity and execution are bound to breed intrigue. Unfortunately, a week has passed and so far, no one has adopted the experiment. Check that; no one has reported doing the experiment and measuring the results, which doesn’t necessarily conclude that no one’s doing it. They may simply be too embarrassed. I know you’re out there!

So I decided to take a theme from my urinal-inspired blog and expand it for this week: waste. We’re all focused on saving money, but what about things we waste our money on? When I think of cut backing on certain expenditures, we may be cutting back on things that are not essential to everyday use, but are nonetheless helpful and/or convenient. But I see wasteful spending as cuts that can be made regardless of the economic climate and I’ve outlined them here. Also, some other cool tips.

(I WOULD DO ANYTHING FOR LOVE, BUT I WON’T DO THAT)

I’ve done a lot of searching for what seem to be the top things we waste money on and the answers are clear: bottled water, cups of coffee and flowers from a florist. The kicker is the solutions are oh so simple! For water, buy a Brita, finish a 1-2 litre bottle of juice, use that bottle as a jug and you’re golden.

The average person only needs two-three cups of coffee to get them through the day and it’s hard to find many workplaces that don’t have coffee available to their employees anyway. Even without free caffeine at work you can make your coffee at home, drink one cup in the morning and bring some to work. Once you come home, have your third cup and your day is complete.

Flowers however are a little trickier, because it’s a little taboo to get flowers from a grocery store. V-Day and weddings are understandable times to get solid flowers. But other than those crucial times, there’s nothing wrong with flowers from a grocery store. The main difference is that grocery flowers won’t last as long, but the difference is not substantial enough to be paying so much more.

(I’LL GO HOME IN THE MORNING!)

For you drivers, I found a very interesting article on saving money for driving. The three ways include not spending more than 45 seconds to warm up your car, not filling up during the day and actually following the speed limits. Definitely worth a look and now for some miscellaneous tips!

Save your soup you don’t finish and use it later as a sauce. So many times when we have soup, we throw out the broth which can sometimes be the best part. Use it as a sauce later for a second meal and let your creativity take over!

Reuse plastic sandwich bags as long as they don’t touch raw meat. Those bags are definitely a waste of money, so for you smart people who bring their lunch to school/work, you don’t need to buy pack after pack of sandwich bags. Just rinse them out, let them dry and use them for the next day.

(AND WHEN HE GET HOME, HE LEAVE YOUR ASS FOR A WHITE GIRL)

On another note, the Veronicas concert was so much fun. Sadly, I got kind of sick as the night went on and decided to bail early, which is weird because I never get sick, but I saw most of the set and it was a great time. I’m not really familiar with the group but I was really impressed with the band’s show. And it takes a lot to impress Lucas Meyer.

And boy oh boy, does Thade love the blonde one or what eh guys?
