Another week, another line up of fun things to set your frugal hearts ablaze. Why don’t we take a gander?
Mobile Movies And Stargazing: This is so adorable—a Bike-In Movie! The Museum of Vancouver will be screening The Triplets of Belleville today (July 13th) in Vanier Park. Admission is by donation. Bring your wheels and some popcorn!
While you’re at Vanier, go to the MacMillan Observatory for a closer look at the constellations. Sounds like the perfect date to me!
(Free) Food For Peace: Food Not Bombs, an organization promoting peace and preventing poverty provides free vegetarian meals in the Halifax area three times a week. If you’re hungry for some veggie cooking and want to talk war & peace, take advantage of this awesome opportunity! There are FNB chapters nationwide so check out their site for events in your area.
Theatre Loving Ontarians: If you missed the Toronto Fringe Festival, make your way to Windsor for their Fringe Fest (July 17-26) and the Buskers Festival (July 17-19). Two great events for the price of one—and by price I mean free.
Tasty Saskatchewan: For our beloved prairie folk and those road-tripping through the province, Saskatoon (I was born there!) is hosting Taste of Saskatchewan (July 14-19) at the Credit Union Centre. Think food from 30 different restaurants with meals as low as $2, live music, and entertainment. What I want to know is: Who’s up for a road trip?
Folkin’ Awesome: Excuse the pun but the Home County Folk Festival is happening in London, ON from July 17-19. Did I mention that it’s FREE? No? Well it is. Oh and Jill Barber and Polaris Prize nominee Joel Plaskett (!!!) are performing.
Folk on the West Coast? Vancouver Folk Festival is in full swing this weekend as well featuring another Polaris Prize nominee–Great Lake Swimmers and other incredible performers. Folkin’ Right!!!
For A Great Cause: If you have some extra cash to spend on great music and an important cause, come see The Veronicas at Circa on Wednesday in Toronto! They are performing in support of Virgin’s Re*Generation initiative. The SYR army will be there so give us high fives if you see us around (except for Thade, he’s up for anything…Ladies).
The Big Announcement: Speaking of wicked festivals, the first batch of Virgin Festival Ontario acts and festival details will be announced on Tuesday!!! Wooooo!!!
Anything you want to see on the TTLFT list? Comment below or e-mail me (Romi.SYR@gmail.com)
Special thanks to Melissa and Harriet, my West and East coast connections respectively.
