The Good, The Bad, And The Budget

July 9th, 2009 by Romi

Dear Friends,

My brand spanking new camcorder doesn’t seem to be Mac compatible. I was ready to make this summer’s Blockbuster when my dreams got crushed by these darn technical issues. I decided to continue on with production as planned but with inferior technology and little resources. What can we learn from this? You can still make professional quality films with some highlighters, permanent markers, paper, and a camera. Professional.

If you can look beyond the budget nature of the film, you will understand what I’m trying to get at. Look at all of the innovations created at a time when people where at their last financial straw. The recession and later the depression of the 1930s seemed to breed creativity. Why not look at this recession as an opportunity to create those essential technologies that we cannot live without? Beyond the five innovations I mentioned, there are several more that you interact with on a daily basis–I just didn’t want to hurt your brain even more than I have already so I didn’t include them.

If so much good can come out of such a terrible time, who says the same can’t happen in 2009?

Keep fighting the good fight and GET CREATIVE. I tried to at least.

Love always,

Romi

P.S. if you didn’t get the reference from innovation #2, The Nylons were the A capella group from the 90s, and that weird drawing was panty hose.
