A swap party that is.

When I did a post two weeks ago about finding clothes in your mother’s closet, I received a comment from Giovanna saying, “Try your own closet first, everybody. 
 Go through and find all of the old things that you hate, take a strong pair of scissors and some leather cord and go to town”. This gave me an excuse to go and talk with some girls about how they stay fashionable and cheap. One person told me that their group of friends has parties! I said, “Huh, what does getting intoxicated and doing something embarrassing have anything to do with clothes, and how does a party SAVE you money?” Well you’d be surprised what kind of party girls sitting in a circle can have (Men, get your head out of the gutter).

The actual type of party that I was talking about was an accessory/clothing swap party. The little birdy that was so generous to give me the scoop told me that girls go through their closets, drawers, lockers, cars, bags, shoes upon more shoes, and bring things that they don’t really wear or use anymore. Then the girls all sit around and compare, trade and give away their junk for something that they desire of their friends. I was told it’s like shopping for free because girls can mix and match different pieces of clothing and accessories with other clothes they already own which will give the appearance of a whole new outfit. Brilliant!

Instead of going to spend $100 here and there on a new pair of jeans or some dresses for that club on the weekend, just take your friends (you might want to wash it just to be safe). She also stressed that it’s very successful when it comes to accessories and shoes. Girls can get tired of certain accessories or shoes, have them sitting in drawers or closets for months and will forget all about them, until, they do that big cleanup ahead of the party. Some women I asked still have the price tag on some things. So women, start planning to get the pop, chips, and venue for this fabulous party and don’t forget to rip your closet apart. I know you’re going to have one comment to say, Mr. Demers, because ladies if you need a REAL D.J. for the party, call me with the details. Who knows, maybe we can film it and put it on the site!
